Hello there,

Welcome to isabella.yarns!

I’m Isabella,

It’s lovely to meet you!

A little bit about me:

I’ve been making art in one form or another my entire life. I just love bringing pictures to life. When I was a child, my preferred mediums were magic markers, charcoal and acrylic paints. When I became a teenager, I found my greatest joy in mechanical pencils, fine-tipped sharpies and colored pencils. Now, as a young adult, my medium of choice is fiber.

I’ve been crocheting since I was a little girl. My Oma taught me a few basic stitches when I was in second grade. When I got to high school, I worked at a summer camp where the counselors crocheted during snack time and I learned a few more stitches. When I got to college, my love for crochet exploded. I just couldn’t stop making things. I made plushies, sweaters, sweater vests, hats- you name it, I crocheted it!

I eventually connected with a girl named Emma who went to the same college as me. We began to hang out weekly, each of us bringing a crochet or knit project to work on. We laughed and gossiped as we slipped loops of yarn over our hooks and needles, and I felt so inspired by how this often ridiculed hobby had led to one of the most valuable friendships I’ve ever had. (See more of Emma’s fiber art here!)

Last year, Emma taught me how to knit and I’ve been absolutely enchanted with it ever since. As I grew more confident in my knitting abilities, I realized that I could combine my lifelong love of creating pictures with my love of fiber work to create beautiful home decor.

Now, my favorite things to make are tapestries made with yarn and love. I made so many of them that I figured I might as well put them up on a website and try my hand at selling them. Who knows? Maybe this will allow me to connect with more fiber art lovers the way I connected with Emma all those years ago.

So what can you expect to find here? Well, my biggest sources of inspiration are 90s celestial prints, flowers, butterflies, berries and other things from nature, so it’s a good bet that you will see some elements of the earth and the sky in my tapestries. I love to use a variety of colors and textures in my work and bit and bobs like buttons or beads I also do my best to use second-hand yarn and natural fibers to reduce my fiber art carbon footprint.

I hope you find something you like here!

Thanks for reading,

Isabella
